Homemade Noni Fruit Juice

Some years ago, I cannot remember who it was or where it was, but someone introduced us to this fruit called Noni. Light-green in color and bumpy, it was associated with health benefits, we were told. Mind you, it was the first time I had seen it.

Like us, a lot of people did not know of it or its power, even though I was and still am very interested in natural medicine and or folk remedies. Most of the plants that I try to cultivate are packed with preventative and restorative power. I love planting from seeds or cuttings, and so it is a joy to see them grow, knowing their worth.

There was the commercially processed Noni juice, which looked like wine or juice in a bottle. We tried it, but maybe because it was commercially processed, there was not much benefit to it. The good news is that there is a way this drink can be prepared at home, and I decided to try it when I got my hands on a couple of the fruits.

You would need a few fully ripe Nonis, washed and dried, and a glass jar with a cover. Some people use plastic bottles or bags. I prefer glass for things like this and for coconut oil, honey, apple cider, and molasses, or even when I am making wine or homemade nuts and jellies.

I placed the fruits into the jars and covered them. I then placed the jars into a dark place; a bag or a cupboard would work. The fruit ferments, and the juice seeps out like gold. I have not tasted it as yet, but it can be mixed with water because alone it is said to be strong in taste.

Improved digestion, strengthened immune system, joint health, and weight loss are some of the benefits testified to by people who have used the recipe. Also, it may help with arthritis, diabetes, and heart issues.

As always, please consult your doctor if you are experiencing health issues or before trying any medication, natural or otherwise.

The good thing is that a lot of times I get so much out of these exercises. I get to learn, capture wonderful images, and I get to share with you all who read my blogs. Thanks for stopping by, and see you in my next blog.
